Beaujolais Nouveau 2024 tasting comments

Have you all enjoyed this year's Beaujolais Nouveau yet?

2024 was a vintage that continued to be plagued by difficult weather conditions and tested the producers' skills, but the quality of the grapes was good, resulting in a wine that offers a fresh taste that is typical of Nouveau (new wine).

Tasting comments have arrived from Professor Boisseau, Mavi's wine selection partner!

We hope this article will be helpful for those who have not yet tried Beaujolais Nouveau and those who are considering buying it again.

Also, a classic of Mavi's Beaujolais Nouveau! We recommend a vertical tasting with the previous year. We have prepared a special value tasting set.

Beaujolais Nouveau 2024 (Chevran family)

The Chevran family's Beaujolais Nouveau is a bottle that exudes the freshness of new wine and is symbolic of the 2024 vintage.
The spring was very humid, which raised concerns about mildew, and the temperature did not rise very much, making for difficult conditions. Although the yield was small, the grapes were of very high quality.
Compared to 2022 and 2023, rather than being concentrated, it has a fresh, refreshing feel that is typical of Beaujolais Nouveau.

The appearance is a very clear, brilliant ruby red colour.
Impressive aroma with notes of raspberry and strawberry jam.
It has a soft mouthfeel and an amazingly fruity flavour.

It is perfect as an aperitif, and goes well with charcuterie, white meats, and mild cheeses (especially semi-hard types such as Reblochon and Saint-Nectaire). It is also recommended for tempura, shellfish, sushi, yakitori, and okonomiyaki.

You can enjoy the fresh taste now, or let it mature for a year.

Beaujolais Villages Nouveau 2024 (Rampon Family)

The appearance is a brilliant deep ruby red color with extensive purple reflections and beautiful transparency.
It has an aroma reminiscent of raspberry and black cherry.
It has a slightly powerful mouthfeel, but is easy to drink. It has delicate tannins and a mild acidity.
The aftertaste is long and lingering, and you can really taste the Rampon family's Beaujolais Villages style.
Despite a difficult year climatically, the Lampon family's "craftsmanship" shines through.

You can enjoy this wine now, but if stored properly it also has the aging potential for 2-3 years.

Recommended pairings include charcuterie, pizza, pasta, white meats, soft cheeses, sushi, sashimi (tuna, salmon), yakitori, wagyu beef, and of course okonomiyaki!
