Mr. Rampon cultivates his fields in the village of Reignier in the northern part of Beaujolais using only human and horse power, and makes wine using traditional winemaking equipment. His red wine has a gentle flavor that reflects his gentle and honest personality. The strawberry-like fruit aroma of Gamay is accompanied by nuances of herbs, black tea, and mushrooms.

It has a light yet deep and nutritious flavor, and is recommended for dishes that use root vegetables and mushrooms.

Wine Details

Taste

Slightly pale ruby.

The aroma contains notes of red berries such as strawberries, herbs such as oregano, black tea, rose potpourri, and champignons.

The mouthfeel is gentle, with a lovely fruity flavor that spreads throughout the mouth. At the same time, the elegant acidity continues at the center, giving the taste a light yet deep depth. The bitter aftertaste is very soft.

A gentle, flavorful red that you'll want to savor slowly and leisurely.

About the producers, the Lampon family

Domaine André Rampon (The Rampon Family)
Organic since 1983

It is located in the village of Reignier, a little north of the Beaujolais region, famous for Beaujolais Nouveau. Reignier is one of the 11 villages in the Beaujolais region that are specially designated as "Cru Beaujolais".

This is a farm that has been continued for five generations, and the current owner Andre purchased the vineyard in 1977. Located at an altitude of 350m, the climate is mild all year round and the beautiful scenery of the valley is popular. In 1983, he converted to organic farming because he did not want to use substances that are harmful to the earth and people.

The vineyard is small, measuring just 3 hectares, and only one type of grape is grown: Gamay.

"Vineyard Artists" Plowing with Horses and Men

They use horses for plowing. The soil plowed by their beloved horse Kaina is rich in air, which has a positive effect on the growth of the grapes. They also hand-pick the grapes and squeeze them manually. They are particular about their craft and are known as "artists in the vineyards."

Wine made 100% with human and horse power

Lampon uses old-fashioned wooden tools to extract the juice from the grapes after soaking. These tools are often on display in the "tools used in the past" section of wine museums and are still in use today.

When applying pressure, no motor is used, but rather the squeezer is operated 100% by hand by turning the handle.

This wine is made only by humans and horses, but there is no variation in taste like natural wines. Please enjoy Andre Rampon's wines, which embody the idea that delicious wine can be made without machines.

普通のヌーヴォーだと思って飲むと、いい意味で裏切られると思います。優しい味わいですが、同時に重厚感も感じられます。丁寧に作られたんだなぁというのがひしひしと伝わってくる、満足の1本でした。
