Taste

Organic history: Since 2003
The vineyard is located on the north bank slope of the Danube River, about an hour's drive from the capital Vienna. The Mantler family began running the winery 200 years ago. They farm and make wine on the grounds of a former monastery. Their father, Joseph, switched to organic farming after the great floods of 2002. He thought that if they continued to do the same thing, industrial agriculture would come to an end as a result of monoculture and soil degradation. When it comes to grape cultivation, it's all about observation. They aim to enrich nature and the soil by carefully identifying what the vines need and what kind of environment they are exposed to, and making the soil rich in humus. In winemaking, they try to minimize human intervention while hoping to freely express the characteristics of the year. Currently, the three brothers are running the winery, following their father's teachings.
