This precious organic brandy is made in the Cognac region in southwestern France using home-grown grapes, and is brewed and distilled entirely in-house. It is slowly aged in oak barrels for over six years, making it a rare bottle that offers a mellow and rich flavor. It goes great as an aperitif with soda or on the rocks, and also pairs well with chocolate and dried fruit.

高級ブランデーの代名詞「コニャック」。
この地方を訪れると、いくつもの大手メーカーを訪問することが出来ます。

しかし、中には一般の人が気がつかないような小さなオーガニック蒸留所もあるのです。

セガンさんのコニャックは、自家で栽培・醸造したオーガニック白ワインを蒸留したブランデーをオーク樽で6年間ゆっくりと寝かせ、熟成させています。

コニャックの最低熟成期間は2年ですので、3倍以上時間をかけていることになります。

セガン家はドメーヌ内で蒸留を行ないます。大手メーカーがコニャック中の畑からぶどうを買い集めて一箇所で製造するのを考えると、ぶどう栽培から全て自家で行うというのはとても珍しいこと。

白ワインが二重蒸留方式によって蒸留され、蒸留後、樫樽で熟成されます。樫樽の中でバニラの香りと味わいが生まれていきます。香料や添加物を一切用いずにビン詰めしたこのコニャックはスムーズでまろやか。香り高く、通常のブランデーとの違いを際立たせています。

コニャックは、食後酒として食事の締めくくりに最適です。炭酸水で割ったり、ロックにしてアペリティフとしてもお飲みいただけます。アペリティフにすると、さわやかさをもたらしてくれます。

フランス西部、ボルドーの北にあるコニャック地方。この中心地から車で30分ほど北に離れた、静かで周りをぶどう畑に囲まれた平地にあります。セガン家は何世代も続く農家です。大西洋からの海洋性気候により年間を通して穏やかな気候で、ぶどうが過度に熟すことなく育ちます。自然環境と顧客のことを思い1982年に転換しました。セガン家のコニャックはオーガニック栽培したぶどうで造った白ワインを2回蒸留してオーク樽で熟成します。香料や色素、添加物を一切用いない造り方を守り、通常のブランデーとの違いを際立たせています。コニャック地方では珍しい、赤ワインと白ワインも造っています。

ホットで味わってもおいしいですが、ケーキ作りが好きなのでコニャックにつけたドライフルーツでフルーツケーキを作ります。ラム酒漬けとは異なった風味で贅沢です。
