This is a full-bodied red wine made from grapes grown on the steep, dry schist fields of the Douro River basin, a famous wine-producing region in Portugal with an unforgettable 2,000-year history. Made from Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Roriz varieties, the ripe fruit's sweetness and astringency blend into the wine, leaving a memorable aftertaste reminiscent of vanilla and caramel. This is a recommended bottle for those who like "strong red wines" and would like to enjoy it slowly with steaks and other meat dishes.

Wine Details

Taste

Pintu y Cruz's Douro has a scent reminiscent of stewed prunes and black cherries, with nuances reminiscent of licorice and pepper.

The bitterness is well-integrated into the wine, leaving a striking aftertaste reminiscent of vanilla caramel. A mellow, full-bodied red wine, packed with the goodness of ripe fruit.

This is a dish that you can enjoy at home, leisurely, by serving steak or other meat dishes with plenty of side vegetables.

Please enjoy at 16-18℃.

This is a heavy, non-sweet red wine (dry type), which is rare in the Douro region (Portugal), where sweet Porto is the norm.

*As this wine has not been clarified or filtered, sediment may be present. Please stand the bottle upright before drinking and be careful not to let any sediment get into your glass as it will sink to the bottom. Please rest assured that this is a wine-derived ingredient.

About the Pintuicurus family

Casal dos Jordoes (Pintuy Cruz Family)

Organic history: Since 1994

It is located in the northwest of Portugal, along the Douro River. It was established in 1870. It is in an area with little rain throughout the year, dry, and with a large temperature difference between summer and winter. In 1994, the Portuguese government established a subsidy for organic transformation. The fields are on steep slopes of 15 to 35 degrees, and machines cannot be used, so the whole "harvested grapes are crushed by machine, transferred to stone barrels, and further crushed by foot. The ancient foot-stomping method produces better wine, so this method is still followed today." Here, despite the harsh conditions that are said to be impossible to organic, they create wines that have won numerous awards at domestic competitions.
