Wine Details

Taste

It is made by waiting patiently for the noble rot to naturally take hold of the grape bunches, and only using grapes that have a high sugar content. It takes so much effort that sometimes only the grapes are selected and harvested separately.

The golden liquid exudes an elegant aroma of butter, dried fruit, honey, and flowers, and the balance of aroma and flavor is excellent, followed by an enchanting, very long rhyme...

This is truly a wine for a luxurious time.

(According to producers, in some cases Sauternes tastes better when drunk a few days after opening, and if you open it and put it in the refrigerator using a wine storage device such as a vacuvin , it will last for 15 to 30 days(*).

*This may vary depending on the amount of wine and its condition.)

Because this wine has a set composition, it is more prone to producing sediment.

Food that goes well with wine

Serve chilled as an aperitif or digestif. Also goes well with foie gras, sorbet, etc. (since it is sweet, you can eat it as is as a dessert), and blue cheese (with honey or, if you don't like blue cheese, with shredded butter).

About the Furcaud family

Château La Garenne (Fourcaud family) - Château La Garenne

Organic history: Since 1994

It is located in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, one of the world's three major noble rot wine producing regions. Fog occurs from dusk to dawn. This fog causes noble rot bacteria to adhere to the surface of the grapes, and the moisture in the grapes evaporates in the sunlight during the day, turning them into noble rot grapes with a high sugar content. Sauternes wine is wine made exclusively from these noble rot grapes. Deciding to produce only organic Sauternes wine, in 2013 they took over the organic vineyards that had been run by the Ferbos family (*1) since 1994. They are a rare producer who produces Sauternes wine organically, even though there are years when noble rot grapes can be harvested and no wine can be made due to circumstances.
