When you hear "Malvasia", many wine lovers will think of Italy's "Malvasia", but there are very few producers who grow "Malvasia" in the Catalonia region of Spain. It has a fruity flavor and a very long-lasting taste, comparable to Grand Vin, and is a masterpiece with a strong presence. It is powerful enough to stand up to main meat dishes such as pork and duck. If you want to try it with meat dishes, we recommend pairing it with "Penedès" or "Malvasia".

Wine Details

Taste

It has a concentrated taste and a very long aftertaste. It is a wine with a strong presence comparable to a Grand Vin. Its strength is not inferior to main meat dishes such as pork and duck. With further aging, it is said to go well with game (pigeon, pheasant, etc.) despite being a white wine.

The name of the domaine, "Vega," is known as the Vega star of Tanabata (the brightest star in the constellation Lyra), but it also means "fertile land" in Spanish.

It has a double meaning: "The Star of Libes" and "The Good Fields of Libes". Incidentally, the star Vega will become the North Star as seen from Earth in the future. But that will be 12,000 years from now. It gives a sense of grand romance.

The bottle is also a special design that is classic and luxurious, reminiscent of sparkling wine.

Not only is the satisfaction you get from drinking it considerable, but even before you open it or even hold it in your hand, there's no end to the material that stimulates your imagination.

About the Bartra family

Vega de Ribes (House of Bartra)

Organic history: Since 1981

It is located in the Catalonia region along the border between Spain and France. It is the second most highly rated wine producing region in Spain after Rioja, which is said to be the best wine producing region in Spain. The Bartra family has been a wine farmer since 1540. Currently, Enric, the 20th generation, runs the farm jointly with his cousin. The conversion to organic was triggered by his cousin's interest, and in 1981 they switched to organic farming "for the sake of the family, consumer safety, and environmental conservation." Enric is a member of the Slow Food Association and is also working on cultivating grape varieties that are in danger of extinction. Among them, "Malvalla de Sigges" is a very valuable variety, and has received the "Ark of Taste Award" from the Slow Food Association as a variety that should be preserved for the next generation. Although Malvaja is a variety that requires more care than other grapes, they are proud to grow this rare and original variety.
