Bordeaux Old Vintage Wine
To commemorate Yasushi Tamura's appointment as a Bordeaux Wine Knight, we will be holding a special sale of old vintage Bordeaux wines.
(*This is a wine from a famous chateau that was inherited from a collector, and is not organic.)
Bordeaux Wine Knighthood
In June 2019, Mavi CEO Yasushi Tamura was appointed Connétablie de Guyenne for Bordeaux wines.
There are three orders of knighthood in Bordeaux, divided by region, and each order appoints knights to protect Bordeaux wine.
Commander of Bontemps | Médoc, Graves and Sauternes |
---|---|
Jurade of St. Emillion | Saint-Emilion area |
Guyenne Connection | Entre-Deux-Mers and other areas |
The position to which Tamura was appointed, Connétablie de Guyenne, is that of a cavalry officer in the Duke of Aquitaine's Royal Guard.
Mavi has been introducing the Piva family from the Entre-Deumeres region to the Japanese market for over 20 years, and was recognized for this achievement. (Mavie has also been promoting the Labuzan family of Graves and the Ferbos family of Sauternes for many years.)
The investiture ceremony was held at Château des Seigneurs de Pommyers, the Pivat family residence and an important French cultural asset, and was conducted by Michel Fougere, counsellor of the Order, in the presence of officers of the Order.
On the day, Mayor Fougere announced that Tamura would be knighted and awarded for his achievements. The officers in attendance approved, and Tamura signed a written oath to "protect Bordeaux wine forever." The ceremony also included tasting and commenting on the Piva family's wines, followed by a banquet. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious Piva family's Bordeaux wines.

Bordeaux Vintage Wine Collection Special Sale
To commemorate his appointment as a knight to protect Bordeaux wine, we will be holding a special sale on Tamura's vintage Bordeaux wine collection.
A few years ago, Professor Boisseau told me that his friend wanted to give him his collection, and without hesitation, I said, "I want it all." (They are from a very famous chateau, and are not organic.)
This item was shipped directly from a private collection in the basement, so there are some stains on the labels, but it is in excellent condition as guaranteed by Professor Boisseau.
"French tastes begin in Bordeaux and return to Bordeaux," they say.
Why not incorporate aged Bordeaux into your life?
About vintage wines
This wine has been carefully stored in a French cellar for many years.
When aging wine for a long period of time, the ideal cellar temperature is 10 to 18 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 90% or higher.
Therefore, some labels may have stains or scratches caused by mold.
Also, since the corks have not been replaced, the liquid level in some bottles has dropped slightly over time.
Please be aware of this when purchasing.
