A barrel-aged red wine from Germany. It has a berry fruit aroma with hints of cherry liqueur and licorice. It is barrel-aged, but has a harmonious balance of red fruit acidity, mild tannins, and a lingering rhyme that gently supports the oak aroma. It is a light-finished red wine.

Wine Details

Taste

Ruby with a pale purple hue.

The aroma is reminiscent of berry fruits, cherry liqueur, and licorice.

Overall it is dry, with a sour taste reminiscent of red fruits such as cherries and cranberries. The tannins are fairly low, giving it a light finish. The subtle oak aroma gently supports the aftertaste.

It has a good balance of aroma, acidity, and tannins, and although it is barrel-aged, it can be enjoyed without pretense.

About the Stritzinger family

Stritzinger Family

Organic history: Since 1985 (certified in 1990)

The winery is located in Klingenberg, a village in the Franconia region of southern Germany, famous for the Romantic Road, about a two-hour drive from Frankfurt. The previous owner, Willi, started working at a winery in the village, and in 1972, he bought a small field and began making wine. Willi was a pioneer who also served as an advisor to Germany's oldest and largest organic producers' association, and was originally sensitive to environmental issues, so he converted in 1990. The fields are terraced on a steep slope overlooking the Main River. The fields are sunny and warm quickly in the spring, but it is hard work, climbing stairs for each plot and using only small tools. Some biodynamic elements are incorporated to produce high-quality grapes that are resistant to stress and disease. They make wine with care, such as not adding yeast and using barrels from Germany.
