This dry white wine is from the Meyer family, who practice biodynamic farming in Alsace, France. Although it is a white wine, its pale salmon pink color makes it drinkable like an orange wine. Made from 100% Pinot Gris, a noble variety from Alsace, it was fermented for three weeks with the skins soaked in juice, and then aged for nine months in barrels with the lees. The aroma brought out by the maceration is rich. It has a moderate acidity and volume, making it a rare type of wine that is dry yet has a floral and fruity aroma.

Wine Details

taste

Pale salmon pink in colour with orange edges.

The aroma is diverse, with floral notes of rose and honeysuckle, fruity notes of pomegranate, peach, strawberry, grapefruit and orange, as well as mineral notes reminiscent of white pepper and chalk.

The taste is dry, but the gorgeous aroma and full body make it seem off-dry for a moment. The acidity is mild and the tannins are very gentle.

The taste also has a wide variety of aromas, just like the aroma.

This is a precious wine that combines a dry taste with floral and fruity flavors.

About the producers, the Meyer family

Domaine Eugene Meyer (Meyer family)

Organic history: Since 1969 (certified by Demeter in April 1980 and ECOCERT in 1991)

It is located in the village of Bergholz, which is in the southern part of the Alsace region. It is a historic wine farm that has been passed down from parent to child since 1620. Currently, the 13th generation, François, is in charge of everything from cultivation to brewing. The topography is that it is a basin surrounded by the Vosges Mountains and the Alps, and in addition to the large temperature difference between winter and summer, the annual rainfall is low, so high quality wine is considered to be the best. It is said that the reason why the Meyer family changed to organic is because the first generation, Eugène, was in a serious condition in which his optic nerve was paralyzed due to pesticide poisoning. After being cured by homeopathy at that time, he encountered Steiner's biodynamic farming and decided to change in 1969. By continuing to use this farming method, the Meyer family's fields are full of lively energy. The Meyer family is known in France as a pioneer of biodynamic farming.
