Screw Cap Wine Special

Screwcap wine special

Enjoy screw-cap wine casually

Corks have traditionally been used for wine bottles, but recently there has been an increase in wines with screw caps that can be easily opened by simply twisting the cap even without an opener.

In the past, the image of screw caps was that of cheap, everyday wine, but recently high-quality screw caps that allow capillary-level ventilation like cork stoppers have begun to appear, and they are now also used for wines that are intended for long-term aging.

Screw caps also do not suffer from the microbial contamination (cork taint) that sometimes occurs with cork stoppers, so some producers choose to use them in order to reduce the risk of deterioration in the wine's quality .

At Mavi, we are increasingly handling wines with screw caps every year, and we have received positive feedback from customers that they allow you to easily enjoy wine even without an opener, and are also easy to store.

So this time, we will introduce the appeal of screw caps , the easy way to open a bottle incorrectly , and Mavi's lineup all in one place.

4 charms of screw cap wine

Easy to use

Since there is no cork, no wine opener is required! Even beginners can easily open a wine bottle just like opening a regular drink.

Convenience

Since it is safe even without an opener, it is useful in situations where you drink wine outdoors, such as picnics, outdoor activities, and barbecues. (During the COVID-19 pandemic, eating and drinking outdoors with a large group of people is not recommended. Let's enjoy it to our heart's content once things return to normal!)

quality

Bottles with corks will inevitably develop scratches and mold to a certain extent, resulting in wine of inferior quality. With screw caps, there is no need to worry about this .

variation

As expensive screw-cap wines are beginning to appear around the world, the impression that screw-cap wines are cheap is fading. The number of wines handled at Mavi is increasing year by year, and the range of wines to choose from is expanding.

How to properly remove a screw cap

Some customers who have used screw caps say that the caps are "tight." You may be tempted to twist the top of the lid like you would with any other drink, but this method doesn't work. There is a trick to opening a wine screw cap . The correct way to uncork is as follows.

How to properly remove a screw cap

1. Place one hand on the bottom of the bottle

First, hold the bottom of the bottle with one hand. You can use the bottom of the bottle. You will end up twisting this instead of the cap, so it is recommended to use your dominant hand .

2. Check the perforations on the cap

If you look closely at the cap, you will see the perforations, so use your other hand to hold the part of the cap below those perforations. Do not touch the perforations.

3. Twist the bottom of the bottle

With the cap fixed, twist it clockwise with the hand holding the bottom of the bottle in step 1. Once the cap can be turned, it's time to remove it.
