This red wine is made from 60-year-old vines (vieilles vignes) in the Nuits region in the north of the Cote d'Or. It is an organic wine with an elegant taste, with a fruity aroma of simmered raspberries and strawberries, a gorgeous aroma of violets and roses, hints of spices and herbs such as cinnamon, colorful fruitiness, and a clean acidity with a hint of minerals.

Taste

I remembered the producer, Mr. Pelletier, saying during my visit, "This wine feels more like eating than drinking."

The moment you pour it into a glass, the aromas of fruit and blackcurrant typical of Pinot Noir emerge.

Its deep aroma makes you want to keep enjoying it, but when you can't wait any longer and put it in your mouth, the first word that comes to mind is "intense." It has a dry impression that is perfectly described as spicy, and a rich, astringent taste. The flavor continues to expand and deepen for a while after you put it in your mouth.

The deep, expansive flavor settles down very smoothly. After that, you'll notice a slight hint of sweetness. After you put it in your mouth, you'll feel a variety of different flavors within just five or six seconds. The depth of the texture is so impressive.

As I was drinking this wine, I realized that without even realizing it, I was chewing and tasting the wine. Yes, I was eating the wine!

This Vieilles Vignes is made using only Pinot Noir from vines over 60 years old. As grapes age, the skins naturally become thicker, and the extracts from the skins give the wine depth. To make the most of this characteristic, the wine is finished unfined and unfiltered, giving it impact and texture.

The succession of small emotions that occurs from the shock of putting it in your mouth to the lingering aftertaste is like a story in itself. This is a bottle that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a rich, deep, and well-rounded Burgundy wine.

About the Pelletier family

Chateau de Premeaux (Pelletier family)

Organic history: Since 1999

Located in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, south of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. The wine farm purchased the chateau in 1920 and has been passed down from father to son. Currently, Arnaud, the fifth generation, is in charge of grape cultivation and brewing. Some of the fields have been organic for a long time, but all of them were converted in 2012. We are proud to be able to teach our children that our land is cultivated in a way that does not pollute the earth, and that we should drink and eat things that are good for our bodies. Most of the Pelletier family's wines are for individual customers in France and are difficult to obtain even in France. By brewing each plot separately, we are able to bring out the terroir (soil) that we cherish.
