About the Magnoni family

Fattoria Majnoni Guicciardini (Magnoni family)
Organic history: Since 2000 (certified in 2007)

It is located in Vico d'Elsa, halfway between the big city of Florence and the world heritage site of Siena. The area has a multi-layered structure consisting of white and gray clay, which is typical of the region, and reddish yellow sandstone, which originates from the area being the bottom of the sea in ancient times. The grapes grown on the clay-dominated soil give the wine complexity and a strong structure, while the grapes grown on the sandstone-dominated soil give the wine a light and aromatic taste. The Magnoni family purchased this land in 1870 and it has been passed down from generation to generation. They were searching for a way to present their wine, and they arrived at organic farming. By practicing organic farming, they feel a connection with the people who have been working on this land for centuries, and they feel that they can have a better relationship with their employees and customers without relying on industrial methods. The owner Pietro's ideal wine is elegant, well-structured, not too heavy and easy to drink.
